The George Award
The George Award is given to a woman who has been involved with YWCA Carlisle through volunteer work, enable YWCA Carlisle to build goals in the community, and promote goodwill in the community.
Our 2024 George Award Honoree is Jane Burke: As a dedicated community leader and volunteer, she has lent her expertise by serving on numerous boards and is a valued YWCA Trustee, embodying a commitment to advancing social causes.

The Persimmons Awards are given to women who promote peace, justice, and dignity for all, and has made a positive impact in our community.
Our 2024 Persimmon Awards Honorees are:
Kelly Neiderer: For over three decades, she has tirelessly contributed to her community through her involvement on numerous boards, her unwavering dedication to advocacy, and her profound legacy as a career mentor.
Dorene Wilbur: Through her role as an inclusive teacher, her instrumental efforts in establishing the Black Student Union, her impactful contributions as a member of the Hope Station Board, her founding of the Annual HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) & Workforce Fair, and her ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion work, she has profoundly enriched her community and embodied the spirit of The Persimmon Awards.
Lucy Zander: As a long-time community organizer with over 30 years of experience, she has been a tireless champion for non-profit organizations, demonstrating unwavering dedication to the betterment of her community.
Barrie Ann George: With over 32 years of commitment, she has served on multiple boards, committees, and agencies, while also championing nonprofits and communities, promoting art through her column, demonstrating an enduring dedication to enriching society.
